L’Oreal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum

When I heard about the new L’Oreal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum (£13.99) I had mixed feelings. I was suprised that they had released a skincare-based foundation (very on trend) because they released the Infalliable Powder Foundation (£12.99) in January this year. I expected them to release something like the True Match Nude Tinted Serum then as “no-makeup makeup” looks had thrived in lockdown with many people wearing less products and lighter finishes. I felt that the launch of the Infalliable Powder foundation seemed backwards, an old-fashioned product they tried to re-market. One thing we learnt was that ultimately, powder is going to look like powder on the skin and give a matte finish no matter how “creamy” it is.

I was never a fan of the original True Match foundation, however, after seeing so many positive reviews from all skin types about the Tinted Serum, I thought anything that contains Hyaluronic acid (1% in this case) can’t be bad. This ingredient is aimed to attract water to the skin to keep skin soft and hydrated. After my first use I was pleasantly suprised, it was everything I wanted L’Oreal to release for a long time.

I use a brush to blend in then tap in with a beauty blender to make sure the finish is flawless. It is so easy to blend and gives a luminous finish without any glittery reflects. The perfect product for those “no makeup” days, but it also can be built up to a medium finish if you like more coverage. It is one of the most skin-like foundations I have ever used even when layered with powder.

Unfortunately the shade range is not as varied as we would like but that is expected of a new release to test its popularity before bringing out a full shade range. However, it is not the worst drugstore shade range I have seen and hopefully L’Oreal will expand the shade range in the future.

This is a great product for any age as its hydrating ingredients promote collagen production and most skin types can use this, however for those with really oily skin I would avoid this product altogether. I feel like this product is a trusty base and works well with other products and brands so I would recommend!

Clinique Cheeks

Clinique has been all over TikTok with their Black Honey Lipstick going viral, but have you tried their cheek products?

These are nothing new, but with cream products becoming more popular and light, glowy makeup taking over, these are ideal to have in your collection. Pigmented, creamy and long-lasting, these Chubby Sticks are essential for any makeup mogul.

The contour stick is my favourite, and the perfect natural bronzey colour. Unlike many cream contours, the colour is the perfect in-between tone – not too orange or red. The oil-free formula is lightweight, easy-to-blend and doesn’t break me out. I love using this product around my eyes as a liner, on my nose and forehead as well as the cheeks for a natural contour. The formula can also be built up for a more bronzey look.

There are multiple blusher shades to choose from. The shade ‘Roly Poly Rosy’ is the perfect shade for that flushed, slightly-sunburnt look that is popular right now and ‘Amp’d Up Apple’ gives the cheeks a more natural wash of colour. I can’t rave about these enough, they are great products to control your blusher placement especially if you’re a beginner.

Initially I was skeptical about the highlight shade being too light as I normally go for a golden highlight. Luckily this highlight isn’t pink-toned and it melts into the skin giving a natural glow. It has been my go-to for the past few months and I’ll continue to use it for the remainder of the sunny months.
